MYP Personal Projects

The learner: Who completes the Personal Project?

Albanian College  believes that the process of exploring a personal line of inquiry to deepen one’s own understanding of an individual choice of topics or ideas is imperative to the development and practice of lifelong learning skills. Therefore, all Grade 10 students are required to complete a Personal Project, in order to “experience the responsibility of completing a significant piece of work over an extended period of time.”

Student project examples:
Tyga: Women objectification in Anime/Manga

Learning: What’s worth knowing?

Students are preparing for an uncertain future, for jobs that may not even exist until new innovations change the perpetually adjusting labor market. The Personal Project gives them two significant learning opportunities; first, a chance to deeply explore the topic of their choice; second, the development of the mindset of an independent lifelong learner. To do so, they will learn to set personal criteria for success, set and keep deadlines, make mistakes and reflect on how they can learn from them, and in the end, have a tremendous experience they can use to further their success in the Diploma Programme and in the College and University application process.
