IB Middle Years Programme Overview

The learner: Who is an MYP student?

Albanian College  was authorized to provide the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in May 2017. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) adopted the MYP in 1994 for students aged 11-16 specifically to support the IBO’s aim of developing internationally minded people who by recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. Informed by these values, the IB MYP supports the overall characteristics of an IB education, which:

• Focus on learners
• Develops effective approaches to teaching and learning
• Works within global contexts
• Explores significant content.

The MYP Programme Model: What comprises the programme?

The MYP was revised in September 2014 to provide a more rigorous and highly flexible framework that incorporates the Learner ProfileApproaches to Learning, Service as Action and the Personal ProjectSubject Areas, and International-Mindedness, as reflected in the MYP Programme Model above.
