Albanian College Durres Athletic Department

Athletic Department’s Philosophy
Albanian College Durres strives to help students to become lifelong learners who have a firm understanding of Health and Fitness and the benefits of participating in physical activities. Students are instilled with an awareness of themselves and others and are empowered to make positive changes to their lifestyle and those around them.

Physical Health Education Curriculum
ACD has outstanding facilities and a dedicated International staff, who are guided by the requirements of the International Baccalaureate. Our schedule enables our staff to teach students from EY1 through to Grade 10. This way we foster the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes throughout the grade levels so that will contribute to a student’s balanced and healthy lifestyle. Through opportunities for active learning, courses in this subject group embody and promote the holistic nature of well-being.

PYP Physical Education

  • Physical Education in the PYP curriculum

In the PYP, personal, social and physical education (PSPE) is concerned with the individual’s well-being through the promotion and development of concepts, knowledge, attitudes and skills that contribute to this well-being. Well-being is intrinsically linked to all aspects of a student’s experience at school and beyond. It encompasses physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and social health and development, and contributes to an understanding of self, to developing and maintaining relationships with others, and to participation in an active, healthy lifestyle.

  • Skill Development

Here at Albanian College Durres, we develop a combination of transferrable skills promoting physical, intellectual, emotional and social development; to encourage present and future choices that contribute to longterm healthy living; and to understand the cultural significance of physical activities for individuals and communities.

  • Face Challenges

Students of all abilities are challenged to improve their movement skills, but they are also supported and encouraged to enjoy physical activity and see it as part of a healthy and active lifestyle with connections to other areas of the curriculum and community.
